Our Mission: Global Reforestation
Eco-Vegan is so honoured to be partnered with such a motivated and inspiring charity such as One Tree Planted. With every purchase made here at Eco-Vegan we will plant one tree.
One Tree Planted is a non-profit organisation founded in Shelburne, Vermont. They work with amazing reforestation organisations around the world that need financial support to help them get more trees in the ground.
They started in 2014 with a mission to make it simple for people to help the environment - one dollar plants one tree. They pool the donations for each project and send the funds to their reforestation partner, enabling them to cover the costs required to get these trees in the ground.
Australia is home to a huge variety of unique plants and animals, with over 80% of native species not found anywhere else. The southern island of Tasmania is one of the last places that many of Australia’s threatened native species can thrive. However, centuries of farming in the Tasmanian midlands have depleted habitats and reduced biodiversity. With fewer places to find shelter and food, some of Australia’s endangered endemic species – including the iconic Tasmanian Devil – are at further risk. Planting trees with this project will protect Tasmania’s biodiversity while stimulating tourism, creating jobs and revitalising local farming.
Our amazing partners are creating wildlife corridors with local vegetation and tree species from the Eastern Tiers to Central Highlands of Tasmania. Beyond protecting the habitats of seven endangered species, the longterm goals for this project are to establish 1.5 million native plants and sequester over 30,000 tonnes of carbon by 2030. Rebuilding these corridors will also help strengthen the environment against the impact of climate change, now and into the future.
Why are trees so important to the environment?
Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree!
Here are the six pillars that explain why trees are so vital...
